Welcome!

Christine Cottingham is an experienced teacher. She welcomes adults, from beginners to advanced levels of singing ability. She also teaches music theory (which she taught at Redhill Adult Education Centre for three years).

Although learning the piano as a child to a grade 5 standard, her real musical education came much later. In spite of this late start she has gained her teaching diplomas from Guildhall School of Music and Drama (LGSM), Trinity College London (LTCL) together with a Masters Degree (Music Teaching in Professional Practice) from Reading University and is still continuing advanced studies. This late start gives her an empathy with older beginners. She is also registered as a singing teacher with recognised music societies.

As well as opera, oratorio, and classic recitals, her classical training has also covered a wide variety of other styles, including show songs, folk, country  & western and old time music hall. For many years her main work was with ‘Living Proof’, working with churches of all denominations through the South of England.
